With all the recent controversy surrounding so called “smart guns,” we thought it would be interesting to take a look at one of the “smartest” small arms invented to date.

To summarize, the Tracking Point rifle system not only makes all ballistic calculations necessary to make 1,000-yard shots, it absolutely will not fire until the rifle is perfectly on target. While the Tracking Point rifle is undoubtedly an amazing piece of technology, it inevitably raises some ethical and philosophical questions. Should such a rifle be legal for hunting? Isn’t part of what makes shooting a rewarding activity the inherent challenges involved in the sport?
