North Carolina man thwarts home invasion with AR-15

A Henderson, NC man defended himself against an intruder Monday morning with a little help from his AR-15.

Local news outlet WRAL reports that homeowner Jonathan Haith was awakened Monday morning by a light knock on his backdoor. A short time later, an armed intruder who had entered through Haith’s laundry room kicked in the homeowner’s bedroom door.

Haith retrieved his AR-15 from under his bed. The intruder fired at Haith and missed while Haith returned fire and struck the intruder once in the stomach. The intruder then fled the home and collapsed in the street outside.

Police have not released details regarding the intruder’s identity or his condition.
